Rob King

Experienced, talented and modest (except when it comes to sport!) Rob King is simply the perfect leader for our Kingthing team. After 26 successful years in the media industry he joined Kingthing Marketing as CEO back in 2015 to help Beck with her growing marketing consultancy and since then he hasn’t looked back.

Rob has a wealth of knowledge gained across a number of key roles specialising in customer service, sales, sales training, marketing and project management with Fairfax Media. As Circulation Manager of two of the country's largest regional newspapers he was widely sought after in this field. He facilitated the first fully subscriber paid digital edition for Australian regional newspapers, which has grown as a profitable revenue stream and important component of products offered by Fairfax.

In his current role Rob has grown the Kingthing team considerably, with an eye for strategic direction he helped to diversify the business from a tourism consultancy to encompass a broader range of business sectors making Kingthing a more attractive entity to both clients and possible recruits.

Beyond the day to day operations of which he oversees, Rob often presents around Tasmania on topics such as website fundamentals, Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), social media fundamentals and paid digital advertising. Rob has extensive experience in digital marketing and has worked with hundreds of small businesses in Tasmania delivering sound business advice based on experience and the latest research and trends.

A tech nerd at heart It doesn’t take much to summon Rob’s inner geek, he loves assessing websites whether they are five pages or 500, drilling deep into analytics, reviewing content and ensuring the user experience of websites is top notch.

When Rob isn’t busy working, he can be found chilling out at Low Head, hiking around the state or hurtling down one of his favourite mountain bike tracks at full speed in and around Launceston.
